After enjoying a 21 year career as a Circuit Court Judge in Illinois, Thomas moved to Norfolk, Virginia in 2016 and re-engaged in the practice of law in the areas he most enjoyed as an attorney before becoming a Judge, namely Estate Planning and Real Estate. He always found great satisfaction in knowing that he was helping individuals and families build toward their futures and plan responsibly. He began his legal career as an Assistant State’s Attorney prosecuting felonies and misdemeanors in both Adult and Juvenile Courts. He then spent 10 years in private practice at Lindner, Speers, and Reuland, P.C. in Aurora, Illinois. In September of 1995 he was appointed Associate Circuit Judge and in 2006 was elected to serve as a full Circuit Court Judge. As a Judge, he presided over all matters ranging from civil to criminal, including Probate and Guardianships. He is married to my wife of 35 years, Carol Mueller, and has one daughter, Emily Parrish, who married a Norfolk man, which is what brought them to the Tidewater area. Outside of work, he enjoys reading, gardening, boating and playing with the family dogs.
